Team Building Guide: Crafting the Perfect Team

Whether you’re a seasoned team builder or someone who just realized there’s more to this than mashing buttons, you’ve come to the right place! In Seven Deadly Sins: Idle Adventure, building a balanced and effective team is key to surviving the game’s challenges. With the ability to have 8 heroes on your team at one time, it’s crucial to know who does what. The game features four primary roles: Tanks, DPS (Damage Dealers), Debuffers, and Supporters. As a general rule of thumb, a well-rounded team might consist of 2 Tanks, 2 DPS, 2 Debuffers, and 2 Supporters. But hey, rules are meant to be bent a little, right? Depending on the stage, you might find that tweaking this composition—like sneaking in an extra DPS or swapping a Debuffer for another Tank—can give you that edge you need.
Flexibility is key in team building. Some stages might have you crying out for more damage output, making it smart to swap out a Tank for an additional DPS. On the other hand, in tougher battles, you might find yourself wishing you had another Tank to soak up all that incoming damage. The moral of the story? Always have a few heroes on standby, ready to jump into the fray when the situation calls for it.
When crafting your team, keep an eye on hero skills. Some heroes boost specific attributes, so if you want to see some serious synergy, try building your team around those boosts. At the end of the day, team building is like a pizza—you can load it up with all the toppings you like, but it’s up to you to decide what tastes best. To help you get started, here are some versatile heroes from each role that can fit into almost any team.

Tanks

Fighter Diane: Fighter Diane is the Tank you want when you need someone who refuses to go down without a fight—literally. Her Special Skill, Iron Heart, gives her Immortality for 10 seconds the first time she suffers a fatal blow. So, when her HP hits zero, she’s like, “Not today!” and keeps fighting for another 10 seconds. This can be a game-changer, especially when you’re up against those gut-wrenching story missions that make you question your life choices. On top of that, Fighter Diane buffs STR-attribute heroes, making her an even more valuable addition to your team. She might be hard to get, but once you do, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without her.
Giant Girl Diane: Giant Girl Diane is like the superhero of Tanks—she heals herself, making her a tough cookie to crack. She scales off Defense, restoring HP equal to 12% of her Defense every second. This makes her a self-sustaining Tank who can keep on trucking even when the going gets tough. Stack some Defense stats on her, and you’ve got yourself a frontline unit who can take a beating and keep on ticking. Sure, you still need a healer, but with Giant Girl Diane on your team, you might just find yourself needing one a little less often.
Drole: Drole is the Tank you want when you need someone who can take a punch—and then heal right back up. Like Giant Girl Diane, Drole scales off Defense, restoring his HP by 15% of his Defense every time he lands a successful attack. This self-sustaining ability is crucial, especially when your team is taking hits like it’s going out of style. With Drole in the mix, your Supporters can focus on keeping the rest of the team alive, while Drole handles himself just fine. Oh, and did we mention that the first time Drole takes a fatal blow, he gains Immortality for 10 seconds?
[The Pleiades of the Azure Sky] Waillo: Waillo is like the friend who always shows up with snacks—reliable and budget-friendly! He’s a great Tank who’s easy to obtain, making him perfect for those of us who don’t want to break the bank. With Waillo on your team, you get a sturdy defender who’s more than capable of holding the line. Plus, you can snag multiple copies to max out his skills, making him an even more formidable force. Talk about a win-win!

DPS

The Fox Sin of Greed, Ban: Let’s kick off the DPS section with none other than the king of damage himself, Ban! He’s a top-tier DPS character who will help you push through those stages that make you feel like exiting stage right in real life. With Ban on your team, you’ll be trucking through story mode like a pro, and you won’t have to think about rage-quitting again (well, at least for a little while).
The Dragon Sin of Wrath, Meliodas: Next up is Meliodas, another fantastic DPS option! This guy is an all-rounder who delivers major damage (seriously, we’re still picking our jaws up off the floor). If you’re looking for a character who can hold his own in any situation, Meliodas is your guy.
[Boar Hat] Tavern Master Meliodas: Okay, we know what you’re thinking—why are there two Meliodas' on this list? Are we confused? But trust us, there’s a method to the madness! This version of Meliodas is perfect for those who didn’t summon the first one. He’s a F2P-friendly option, and once you get your hands on multiple copies, he’ll rival the other Meliodas in damage output. Plus, he’s got that Tavern Master charm—who can resist that?
Grandmaster Hendrickson: Hendrickson is another F2P-friendly DPS who’s definitely worth considering. You’ll get multiple free copies, making him a solid choice if you’re trying to save your gems (or if your luck is so bad that even Ban’s guaranteed pity eludes you—don’t worry, we’re not judging).
Galland of Truth: Galland is yet another fantastic DPS option, especially if you’ve managed to pull him and collect multiple copies. With Galland on your team, you’ll be slicing through enemies like nobody’s business.
Danafor Holy Knight Cain and Black Claw Ren: And for those of you currently curled up in the corner because the Netmarble gods have cursed you—don’t despair! Cain and Ren might just be your saving grace. If you have multiple copies of them, they can prove to be amazing DPS characters, ready to fill the gap in your roster and help you climb those ranks.

Debuffers

Monspeet of Reticence: Now, moving on to debuffers! Monspeet is one of the best debuffers in the game, hands down. If you’re looking to breeze through those story missions that make you question your sanity, Monspeet is your guy. We highly recommend adding him to your team if you want to keep your frustration levels in check.
Diamond Holy Knight Gilthunder: We feel that Gilthunder is an amazing F2P option. The game offers various ways to get dupes of him, making him stronger with each one you collect. These dupes are invaluable, so we feel he’s an excellent addition to your team. Plus, who wouldn’t want a knight who can zap enemies and lower their defenses like it’s just another day at the office?
Dual Sword Mod: Ah, Mod—the debuffer who might make you wonder why the Hunchback of Notre Dame decided to join the fight. But don’t let appearances fool you! Mod is a great debuffer with some serious strength. His unique rarity makes it easier to pick up those valuable dupes, so don’t sleep on him just because he looks like he’s better suited for ringing bells.

Support

Grizzly Sin of Sloth, King: Let’s start with one of the top supporters in the game—King! His ability to boost DEX attribute allies makes him an essential asset, especially if your team relies heavily on DEX characters. King’s healing and buffing capabilities ensure that your team remains in peak condition, making him a crucial component of any well-rounded roster.
The Goat Sin of Lust, Gowther: Next up is Gowther, a fantastic character who excels in any battle. After a successful attack, he restores 5 energy and grants a level 4 concentration to allies. When he unleashes his ultimate move, he reduces allies’ cooldowns by 2 seconds and enhances damage against STR-attribute targets. Whether you’re facing STR bosses in story missions or climbing the Tower of Trials, Gowther is your go-to support.
Princess of Liones, Elizabeth: I know what you’re thinking—how did an Epic make this list? But despite being just an Epic, Elizabeth has earned her spot thanks to her remarkable healing abilities. Elizabeth scales off Attack, meaning she restores allies' HP by an amount equal to 120% of her Attack. If you stack Attack on her, the healing she offers your team becomes a game-changer. She may be Epic in rarity, but her healing power is nothing short of extraordinary.
Gloxinia of Repose: Next, we have the first Fairy King himself, Gloxinia! Gloxinia also scales off Attack, restoring HP to the ally with the lowest HP by an amount equal to 10% of his Attack upon a successful strike. When he uses his special skill, he activates Bind, which immobilizes enemies for the duration of the effect. With Gloxinia on your team, you’re not just getting a healer—you’re also gaining a master of crowd control.
Fairy King's Helper, Gerharde: Finally, we have Gerheade, another excellent healer. Her unique rarity makes her a highly F2P-friendly choice. She’s similar to Gloxinia but offers a more accessible alternative for those who haven’t been able to recruit the first Fairy King. Gerheade is your go-to healer if you’re seeking reliable restoration without exhausting your resources.

Conclusion

And there you have it—your crash course in team building for Seven Deadly Sins: Idle Adventure! Whether you’re fine-tuning a well-oiled machine or just assembling your first squad, remember that flexibility is your best friend. Your team composition doesn’t have to be set in stone; in fact, mixing things up might be just what you need to get past that tricky stage that’s been giving you grief.
As you dive deeper into the game, keep an eye on how your heroes’ skills complement each other. A team that works together stays together—and more importantly, wins together. So go ahead, experiment with different setups, and don’t be afraid to throw the rulebook out the window if it means discovering a winning combo.
In the end, the most important thing is to build a team that not only gets the job done but also suits your unique playstyle. And who knows?
